Harry potter – children fiction?

image

So the first question – do you prefer books over movies?
Well, for harry potter one should. As a child when i saw harry potter movies i never thought that there was so much to be explored in the entire series. But now that i know that it is important to read a book and not to judge it from the movies that are made from them, harry potter series seems to be a whole new thing to me. Not even a single chapter had been shown as it is in the movies. Well, honestly i became a potterhead after reading all the 7 books and now it seems really disappointing to me that there are alot of things ‘not’ shown in the movies. But the directors are not responsible for it as in it was a 1.5 hr movie what more could they show.
Hp series are not a children fiction. It has alot of things that j.k depicts indirectly. Alot could be understand from the text like the political injustice.

In the 5 th book order of phoenix when nobody believes harry and dumbledore and the ministry starts interfering in school matters. It actually shows that how badly the minister of magic was worried for his position.

Also, in the 3rd prisoner of azkaban sirius wasn’t actually guilty but was sent to azkaban. And karkarof, lucius malfoy, and many other death eaters were freed. This shows the exact reality of law and justice.
Also the colour allotted to slytherin is green which is the colour of peace and red is allotted to gryffindor which depicts anger and rage. Having an opposite nature regardless of which their house colour depicts j.k rowling breaks colour stereotypes.

The character of snape is debatable as well as contentious. By this character j.k shows that sometimes people choose the dark side because they have their own reasons. For snape was bullied and he had no other person whom he loved but lily. Because lily choosed james over him, he had no other choice but to go over the dark side. Also, he was the only death eater who could produce a patronus charm. This shows that the circumstances made him choose the dark side.
And there are endless things that proves that harry potter series were never a children fiction. Just the text needs to be analysed properly my friend 😉 ❤
Potterhead forever ❤

  1. I love Harry Potter! This series was the first series that actually got me interested in reading. I want to introduce my preschool class to the first book but I know they are too young to sit through the chapters. I’m trying to figure out a way to show them the story and incorporate science, social studies, and math into the unit so that it makes it more real to them. I may just have to tell them the story in parts by myself instead of using the book but I think this series is something they would really enjoy!

  2. Agreed! Harry Potter is so much more than ‘children books’. The first three books maybe simple but the issues and problems that are indicated in them are serious and very relevant. And the books do grow complex as Harry grows up, showing his increased understanding of the world around him and what is to come.

    1. Yes exactly.. but you know people have a tendency to judge a book by its cover when its already clear to everyone that we should not judge a book by its cover… as for harry potter one must read the entire book series and then go for judgement. Even the movies doesn’t give you a proper and complete picture.. and yes I do agree as harry grows up.. everything becomes complex.. because its magic.. and obviously its happening in our minds but why on earth does that mean its not real 😀 ❤

  3. I recently re-watched the whole series for like 10th time!
It is definitely one of the best fiction fantasy movie series ever made. It stands in the ranks of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars for me. Million times better than the Hunger Games and Divergent Series.

      1. I don’t really hate GoT but yes, it’s so much overrated. And people tend to create unnecessary hype every summer.
I’m looking forward to watching – Fantastic Beats & Where to find them.
From the World of Harry Potter!

          1. Years ago, naive me thought that aw no more Harry Potter movies 😦 but Welcome back to the universe! New HP world is upon us! And best part is its the prequel with no major players from the original HP world. Although there’s gonna be some reference to Dumbledore etc 😍

    1. Yes exactly.. you know because the entire series has hidden mysterious interpretations which we never noticed while reading it for the first time.. To contemplate in a proper way one may maintain a dairy or a notebook for criticism, certain questions and deep analysis of the text which i do.. 🙂 and about the fanfictions yes, they are a great source of information .. and for me any information related to harry potter is precious will surely pay a visit.. 🙂

  7. I am totally a Potter fan!
Tried to borrow the books from local libraries because I wanted to know what had got kids reading again … wait lists for their copies were huge. Eventually borrowed all the books from a friends mother – gripping reading, I was hooked.
Love her use of imagination, Quiditch, the magic, etc and it all has parallels in real life. Enjoyed the movies later but the books are far better, enthralling. Thanks.

    1. Trust me .. 🙂 the same happened with me. Earlier I used to think that it is overrated much. But now I know why people are crazy about it. The book itself is magical. I don’t know what happens to me when I m reading harry potter. All the stress, problems, tensions everything gets dissolved. I had a month of winter vacation and i actually read the entire series in that vacation itself. for i just could not keep the book down.. yes.. magic do exist.. :’) #waiting for cursed child. ❤ ❤

        1. Yup i preordered it on amazon 😀 .. the plot is good but i think j.k rowling basically wrote it completely for the fans.. she took into account that deaths of any character will disappoint us alot. Well, i think its a great effort from her side because if we see the series were completed with a very happy ending.. and you need great skills to write another story after it. She’s queen ❤ and the character of draco malfoy is adorable ❤

  8. I, too, love the Harry Potter book series….and, I really enjoy your assessment/philosophical approach to understanding the messages in the books….I agree wholeheartedly….awesome, intelligent, and thoughtful post…thanks for sharing 🙂

  9. Great post – loved it. Our imagination is so power, our thought visualization abilities are so strong that whilst reading a book we can create our own movie, and it is true to the book. A movie has drop a few bits and enhance a few bits, so it is never quite accurate as the book. I float between the two, I like movies especially if the book is a big book.

    1. Thank you 🙂 and yes that’s absolutely correct as in while reading a book i can always visualise the characters, things as described in the book well that’s what the author wants.. 😀 it actually feels like i’m watching a movie in my mind. 😉 ❤

    2. My mind creates movies all the time. Sometimes with characters interacting with characters that would never meet. I like forgetting to take that left turn at Alberquerque.
